The Summer Reading program was a blast! Or..a big splash!  See the “Summer Reading 2010” gallery on this website for great photos of our enthusiastic participants.

Children’s librarian Carol LaFever reports that her 8 programs were attended by 155 children and 65 adults, while her circulation desk contests enticed 57 kids and 56 adults to make a guess.

Our readers clocked 156 ¾ hours: filling the “Make a Splash” aquarium with one fish for every 15 minutes of reading, they made it to the top!

Here are some titles highly recommended by our adult summer reading participants, and other avid readers:

Stephen Bly             The Senator’s Other Daughter
Dean Koontz           Frankenstein
Sandra Dallas          The Diary of Mattie Spencer
Jennifer Chiaverini    The Aloha Quilt
Tamera Alexander    Remembered
Rick Riordan            Percy Jackson and the Olympians—series
Cathleen Schine        The Three Weissmans of Westport

We were excited to learn that Joshua Lindsay was a WINNER of the July STLS MP3 player summer giveaway!  The contest continues into August and September, so don’t miss your chance to be a winner, too!

You, too, can win a Creative Zen MP3 player in a contest sponsored by Southern Tier Library System! It is perfect for listening to downloadable audiobooks from stls.lib.overdrive.com  Enter at the library, or online at www.stls.org, click on the Win Free MP3 icon.  One entry per person, please.
