The Friends of the Watkins Library presents Gail Mazourek, a local author, who will speak about her book “Sam’s Own Words” – a biography of Samuel Paul Crippen, a 20th century man with a large family trying to make it through two world wars, economic depressions, and job loss. He wrote his diaries from 1908 to 1961, the same story of what many men faced in desperate times when diseases like tuberculosis, polio, and scarlet fever rampaged unchecked with neither vaccines nor cures.
