In-Person Programs – All programs take place at the library unless otherwise noted. Please check the locations for special events listed below.
Frequently Asked Questions
Registration
- Students are not required to attend in-person programs or participate in the grab-and-go activities. The only requirement is that students track how many hours and total books they read between July 7 and August 17. Students should not start tracking until July 7, 2024.
- What counts? Books, audiobooks, and graphic novels all count towards your goal! For every 5 hours of reading, students can cash in for coins. Coins can be used to purchase prizes at the Summer Learning Marketplace. Please note that you cannot collect any coins until you complete the first 5 hours.
- Grab-&-Go Activity Packs will be available starting on Monday of each week until gone. These are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can pick up activity packs during open hours. Supplies may be limited.
- Extra reading logs will be kept at the Summer Learning Station near the children’s room.
- The last day to turn in logs to library staff is Saturday, August 17. The top readers will be notified the following week.
- There will be an End of Program Party on Thursday, August 15 at the Montour Falls Farmers Market from 4pm-7pm.
- Please make arrangements to pick up prizes and certificates during library open hours. All participants will receive a completion certificate at the end of the program.
How to Register
- Registration for the Summer Learning Program will begin June 15 and close July 13.
- Call the library during open hours (607) 535-2346.
- Send us a Facebook Message that includes: First & Last Name of the student(s), age, contact phone number or email address.
- Send us an email at wgldirector@stls.org that includes: First & Last Name of the student(s), age, contact phone number or email address.
- Parents/guardians are required to fill out a consent form and return it to the library. This form includes emergency contact numbers, allergies, and photo permissions. A printable copy of this form can be found below.
- Students can pick up their Summer Learning folders starting July 1 but should not track reading progress until July 7.
Reading Logs
Reading logs are available for #number of books and #number of hours read. Students are awarded grand prizes in both categories.
*Students must complete a FULL row of hours to receive coins. For every 5 hours they read, they can collect 5 coins to shop the marketplace. Please let a staff member know when you are in if you’d like to view the cart.
